Geophysical Study of Gold Mineralized Zones in the Carolina Terrane of South Carolina

Abstract Large pyrite-dominated gold deposits are hosted in hydrothermally altered metamorphic rocks the Carolina slate belt of South and partly covered by Coastal Plain sedimentary rocks. In this study, we investigate utility geophysical data including aeromagnetic, electromagnetic (EM), land gravity surveys as exploration tools. Observed anomalies correlated with rock properties such resistivity, susceptibility, density. Mineral concentrations were measured for 40 samples from 16 new drill holes, well densities pyrite 49,183 448 holes Haile ore zone. Regional positive observed over Haile, Ridgeway, Barite Hill mine areas, residual high-pass filtered all areas. New measurements cores area directly confirm high Brewer high-conductivity EM zones nearby metasedimentary The concentration units may explain conductivities observed.
